You know, I enjoy laughing i do, but it’s a sad thing when you try to be funny and think you delivered a hot punchline, and people sit there looking at you.
I mean really. It can get tired always saying, “Ah, You should’ve been there.” Like, really, that’s the whole reason why you telling it, because they weren’t there. I mean, it’s not like how your mom tells you a story that you heard already and you tell her you heard it already, but she tells you anyway like it’s new and doesn’t want to be interrupted again. So each time, now, you sit and listen and act surprised or tickled to make her feel better. Uhhh, am I the only one, with this experience?
Oh wait, do you have the kind of friends that tell you a story and name people like you know them –
[Jersey shore–italian accent] So I was talking to Jess–you remember Jess right? [your no gets ignored but what of it] Yeah, she was telling me about this new spa–cause you remember the other one she went to where they didn’t want to give us extra sugar in our tea? Such jerks right. Anyway, we gotta try this new one because she really wants to redeem herself. So call her and find out what day okay, and let me know. Gotta go now bye-bye. [small case of bewilderment]
Okay, but you know what’s crazier, is when you ask your crazy friend, Nia (character above) to meet you and Laura, another friend, at the bakery and Nia says she doesn’t know who that is, but when you and Laura show up, Nia goes:
Oh, so you and Jess decided to do this instead.
Now, you looking around for who Nia’s talking about, only to see her walk up to Laura and say, Hi Jess, and you all confused, cause…, well, you know. So you pull Laura aside to try to figure out what you’re clearly missing right now and she says,
Oh yeah, when we met some time ago, she said I reminded her of a girl named Jessica and ever since then she’s been calling me Jess.
My sentiments exactly
Today is a free writing day. Write at least four-hundred words, and once youstart typing, don’t stop. No self-editing, no trash-talking, and no second guessing: just go. Bonus points if you tackle an idea you’ve been playing with but think is too silly to post about.
So tell me…
Did you smile, laugh, say-“I’ve been there” or something to the effect? This was my different.
Do I try harder (meaning do it again) or leave it alone (no funny business for me)? Either way, maybe you’ll like these rockin’ posts:
See you soon
