“Look mommy. What do you see?”
“Well, it looks like a bunny rabbit. See, there are the ears.”
Lightly chuckling, “No-o-o-o, mommy. It’s a Kangaroo.”
As she gazes upward, a light wind blows through her hair; a tear flows down her right cheek and within are these words she hears:
One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple. (Ps 27:4)
There’s always been something alluring about the skies. Could it be the way the clouds take shape? Maybe it’s the rays of sun that pierce through.
“Mommy, are you crying? What’s the matter?”
“No, baby, I’m not crying. Thanks for asking though. I’m just enjoying the view of the heavens.”
“Why do you enjoy that mommy? Are you thinking of going into space, like an ASTRONAUT!” He says this with wide-eyes and an expectant, Yes.
With a bit of laughter, she replies, “You are too funny, boy. There’s no desire to be an astronaut, rather there’s great joy in my heart over being where He is. Do you know what I mean or who I’m talking about when I say – ‘where He is?’ “
“Yeah, I think so. You’re talking about God again, aren’t you?”
LOL, “Yes sir. [she chuckles] You know how your favorite scripture is Phil. 4:13, that reminds you that you can…”
He jumps on the end of the sentence with her, “…do all things through Christ which strengthens me. Yes”
“Well, mine is Ps. 27:4. I love being where He is. There’s no other place where one feels more loved, or important, or comforted, or more. Remember the man in history named David who defeated the giant Goliath?”
“Yeah, he had a rock and threw it and it went into his head and boop [making sound effects preceded by imitating one falling], he was down and outta here.” He always makes her chuckle.
“You are so funny, but yes, that David. [He straightens his shirt collar, feeling good about himself]. Well, he spent a lot of his time, gazing upon the awesomeness of the things God has done. [She stops to consider] Hmmm. That could be why his writings were so compelling and timeless. He’s viewing a place that hasn’t been touched by man; hasn’t been created by a man and cannot be done away with by man. No wonder he was so inspired to not only write literature that we can read, but songs that centuries later and to come are being and will be sung.”
“You know, [speaking softly], I almost think that sometimes he was actually carried away in his mind and spirit to a place in the clouds. Certainly he has been given a place above the clouds now. I wonder what he’s writing now?”
1 The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork.
2 Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge.
3 There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard.
4 Their line[a] has gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun,
5 Which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, And rejoices like a strong man to run its race.
6 Its rising is from one end of heaven, And its circuit to the other end; And there is nothing hidden from its heat.
